The fake rose trophy

Sianna holds a trophy that was suppose to be first place in a rose growing contest. Phony of course, bored postal workers I assume...

The "shoes"

Porter worked on a farm and his shoes were constantly muddy and "cow pie" covered and Ray kept on him about wearing them to work. At his retirement he gifted the shoes to Ray.

Mavericks, Part 2

Front page of the Peru Tribune after the fire.

Fire at Maverick's, across the street!

Across the street from the post office is a row of bars, one of them caught fire, unfortunately it turned deadly. We had to look at this burnt out building for quite some time before they rebuilt.

Andy Walsh

Andy is everywhere! Here he was interviewed by the Peru Tribune. He was working as a window clerk that day.

Andy Walsh gets a surprise from his mother.

NALC food drive

On one Saturday every May, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the mail carriers union, holds a nationwide food drive. Approximately 70 million pounds of food are collected nationally and all foods stay in the local area where the donations were made. I believe Peru collects between 5 and 8000 pounds each year. Mail carriers collect the donations while on their mail routes. Customers set bags of food out by their mail boxes for the mailman to pick up. Others bring donations into the post office. Here is a photo that ran in the Peru Tribune.

Walter Cotner

Again, didn't know this gentleman, but we will honor him here. This is about the Peru Post Office.
